VALORISATION OF RESEARCH POTENTIAL AND
INCREASE OF ROMANIAN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY IMPACT
AT EUROPEAN LEVEL IN THE FIELD OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SAFETY |

The BIO-FOOD Project supports the participation of Romanian research units and companies with agro-industrial profile in international competitions, aiming the harmonization with main existent tendencies at European level, by generation of balanced consortia for successful applications to European specific programs of the Framework Programme 7 (FP7).

 focuses on research guideline no. 5 – Agriculture, food safety and security – of special importance both for Romanian economy, considering natural resources and high percent of workforce involved in agro-industrial sector (46% of Romanian total area is cultivated, and 19% is depastured; more than a quarter of the population is employed in agriculture), and at European level, residing in the Calls for proposals in the field of Theme no. 2 - Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Biotechnology, of FP7.

By means of a specific sequence of support actions, final results will concretize with the elaboration of some project applications to FP7, with Romanian relevant participation, within Calls to be launched at European level in 2008 and 2009. Generation of projects within organized events will lead to building up 4-6 European consortia, grouped around some major project ideas matching the thematic chosen. A minimum of 4 (four) of these project proposals will be elaborated and submitted to European Commission to be evaluated and approved.

The project has a modular structure, being formed of a module dedicated to Agriculture and one dedicated to Food safety and security. Each module in turn will include 3 [three] consecutive events with national and international participation, relevant for the thematic proposed, as follows: National Preliminary Seminar – National Training Session – International Brokerage Event.
