Background
SMAST Project is based on the achievement of some specific objectives related to three national and European initiatives, which apparently unfold in parallel, respectively: European Platform of Technology „Food for Life”, National Platform of Technology – mirror of the European one – „Food4Life” and the umbrella project „EuroAgri+”, part of the European Eureka initiative. These initiatives have a common technological field of interest, which overlaps on priority field 5 within PNCDI 2: Agriculture, food safety and security.
The management of the food chain represents one of the basic processes of this priority field. Moreover, within all the three initiatives, Romanian representation is assured around the nucleus formed of IBA (Institutul de Bioresurse Alimentare Bucuresti) and USAMV (University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine - Bucharest).
